Sound system upgrade (factory retrofit)

Is there any way to retrofit the upgraded factory sound system? Including two subwoofers at the back and the two midranges in the doors. Is this compatible with the business CD system?

Here's my plan, in order:

1. Improved speakers (factory - don't want to mess about with non-BMW kit)
2. Add CD changer to the business CD system
3. Upgrade business to professional or navigation (a few months down the line)

Is this possible?

Thanks!

I'm not the best to comment on audio but did upgrade my door speakers. From that I can tell you there is no loom provided in the lower spec systems to upgrade in the doors, so it's likley you'll have similar issues in other locations and with the boot amp and so on.

Frankly I'd just go to an audio specilaist and get some decent kit fitted for a lot less money and likley better quality

John Cleese in reading quoted me £650 to replace the speakers , fit a amp and sound deaden the doors and footwells . I thought that was a bit exspensive . Or £900 to add a under seat woofer . I have the basic system

Roof down , wind in your hair (well what's left) and the sound quality is not that important...... :P

I just had the strange image of you getting a quote by a mechanic doing a silly walk while circling your car... :D

I've had a system installed using the stock head unit, retaining my business nav and cd changer.I have an amp in the boot and have changed (Focal units) the footwell bass units, wing mirror tweeters and installed mids in the doors with some sound deadening in the doors. It sounds amazing even at illegal speeds with the roof down.It lacks a bit of deep bass at low volumes and my next step is to work out whether it is worth getting some form of sub(s) in the back behind the seats. At highish volumes it is really punchy and crisp, and doesn't realy need a sub, but I'd like a bit more bass.Am saving up and will get it done next year.PM me your email address Motoroller and I'll take some pics and send them over. My installation was @ £ 900 but I went for top end kit and fittings and cabling.
