sound of water in car, not blocked drain holes...fixed

Just a heads up...

After the heavy rain we had a few weeks ago I could hear water moving around in the car when braking etc... Concerned about my roof motor I had the drain holes cleaned and removed the bungs permanently. However the noise of the water was still present.

Turned out to be in the sides of the car, god knows how it got there?

I removed the jack blocks and about a gallon of water came out.

Solution: Leave the jack blocks in the boot from now on. :thumbsup:
 
I think the official advice was to drill a couple of small drainage holes in the jack pads rather than removing them.

Not sure on the Z, but on older BMWs removing the jack pads led to issues with rust forming around the holes where they used to be located (probably from people jacking the car without the pads in place and scratching the paint away...).
