on the 3.0i engine, to take the foam nearest the engine out, do i need to take the whole unit off? im planning on putting the bulkhead foam back in but removing the denser foam for abit more noise. but it doesnt look like theres a quick way of doing it.

the photos in the help thread are for the facelift one so not much help

You're better off removing the whole bit from the bulkhead, slicing it into chunks and adding them back a piece at a time until you get the noise level you're happy with.

Removing the thick piece doesn't really add much volume, and you need to take the whole thing apart to get to it

Hope this helps

Ive had the bulkhead bit out since january but i want more noise, heard taking both out was too much though so was going to remove the other bit which is apparently more restrictive and then putting the bulkhead one back instead...... so does the second piece not make much difference?

An second one out on its own wont do much.

You could try taking it out, then adding some of the bulkhead foam back. That should stop your ears bleeding

might have to try it and see, was hoping for a quick change but looks like it itl take more thought haha

I remember taking the whole unit out on my pre facelift 3.0i - took around 5-10 mins. Not too difficult either

I have added the bulk head foam back in, so much easier on the passengers ears
