Sound Generator Parts

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to retrofit a sound generator from a 3.0 Z4 into my 2.5i Facelift, so I'm looking to buy all the necessary parts to do so.

If you live close to Nottingham (NG9), Brackley (NN13) or Windsor (SL4), I can come to you.

I don't mind swapping parts of my air box + money your way for a sound generator. So for those who have custom back boxes and have no use for a sound generator, this might be an option.

Thanks!

Have you tried sourcing them from a dealer using realoem.com for part numbers? I did find them not too expensive for “plastic” bits.

Sorry I've just seen your reply. Yes, I did this weekend, £260... I was willing to pay around £110+ but 260 is just stupid. The most expensive part seems to be the "rubber boot" at £105, everything else seems reasonably priced.

I bought the full set last year. I got the sound gen parts from ebay for £35 from "classiccarspares" and the rubber boot came direct from Peter Vardy BMW at £29 so whoever's given you a price of £105 is having a giraffe!

Also, depending on your engine this would get you quite a way there: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E85-Z4-Roadster-3-0i-M54B30-Air-Intake-Pipe-Sound-Generator-7514874-073/202674391785?fits=Model%3AZ4+Roadster&epid=1267010278&hash=item2f3055cae9:g:4PYAAOSwDPdc0~dm&frcectupt=true

I have fitted the Sound Generator kit to my 2.5si, but I'm also getting a DLV backbox mod this week. Once I'm back from NC500 next Monday, I might sell the SG kit, if the backbox truly overpowers the intake ;) I paid £130 for it, so would like to get the same.

Will be in touch.

Thanks for the info and links, that's a lot more reasonable. I got that quote from Sytner BMW in Maidenhead.
