Sound Generator loose/rattle?

Hi Guys,

i have done the sound generator mod.

However, i am noticing that whilst in a high gear and building up the revs on acceleration the thing is rattling.

I have tried every combination of trying to get the pipe to stay stiff and in place. There is definite play in the pipe.

Any ideas? Do you have this problem?

To resolve the problem everyday, i end up adjusting the fitting to make it more secure.

Mine doesn't rattle at all.

which end of the pipe appears to be rattling?

if it's the bulkhead side, have you checked that the bulkhead grommet is still firmly in place?
If it's the engine side, did you reconnect the bottom catch to the block?

I seem to have the same problem with Beancounter1980. The rattle on mine is from the bulkhead end, there is loads of play in the connection to the cabin....I just can't get the dam thing to sit in properly!

Did you get this sorted Beancounter1980?

As I wrote on another post, be sure to mount the rubber grommet in the hole of the firewall before inserting the pipe, not on the pipe itself, or it becomes impossible to fit it correctly.

Aye, got it sorted.

I secured the pipe end going into the sound generator box with a Juliet clip, and made double sure the rubber grommit at the other end was forced/ fitted into the bulkhead so the rubber overlapped with the bulkheads inside wall..

The Juliet clip was the best thing I did, as I realised the connection into the generator was causing some of the rattle.

Cheers
Don

Glad you got it sorted Don. I recently realised that my rattle is originating from the spring within the sound generator itself. Might give the *jubilee* ;) clip a go to see if it can dampen things out :)
