Sound generator 2.5L questions

I have been kindly gifted a sound generator which is now on the car and sounds brilliant. Few questions though, I have all the pieces except for no.3 no.4 and no.7
1. Do I need part 7 from diagram below, Or should I mod (cut a hole in) part number 8?
2. I also do not have part 3 from the diagram below, is this needed?
3. In 3rd gear at around 2000rpm there is a slight whistle which I guess is air being sucked in, is the whistle normal?

The whistle might be a vacuum leak. Check the rubber boot-looking thing on the intake ducting.

The whistle could also come from the other part of the engine. Easy on the gas I also get the whistle though I don't have a sound generator.

Since plugging the hole where item no 7 should be the sound is a lot cleaner. I will now be making a hole in part no 8 and hopefully that will help.
Only question left is does the generator need to be clamped to the engine via both the engine clip on part 1 and also the bolt on part 3
