Guys
Ive sourced a sound generator from a 3.0i and also got the air intake pipe from the same car . I want to fit these in my 2.5i 2005 z4

ive just put the foam back in my sound gen on my 3.0, i know its not what you want to hear but its a cheap induction noise that will drive you mad after a while, exhaust is the way to way to go.
 
If you have already got the parts then why not fit them :thumbsup:
Can't tell you if you have all you need sorry
I have changed the intake pipe on mine as it was split it's a bit fiddly but only takes around half hour,
.shouldn't take much more to fit the rest you may as well give it a go.

If you've got both items linked then you should be good to go.

I liked the noise these made so for a quick cheap diy mod you can't go wrong.
 
You will love it, I've done it on mine, left all the foam and it is still noticeable.
Can't see the small beaker that screws to the main engine block but they may just not have photographed it. If not it's a cheap part item 3 in the diagram:

good spot , hopefully it arrives also . I would imagine i could cable tie as a temporary jobbie as its unlikely the dealer will can stock , thanks

If it's not there I'd order it as it holds everything secure.
 
Sound generator arrived and I'm missing the little bracket so will get it ordered , thanks Paddy . One snag i hit that i thought i should share . The big plastic elbow leaving the airbox doesn't fit the new 3.0 air intake hose . I managed to get around it by thining out the lip using my trusty dremel . Had a quick drive and all seems to be working , bit weird like , kinda sounds like a speaker behind my head . Still i like it so its staying . Heres a wee pict of the wee fix i had to do20161108_134403.jpg in case anyone is upgrading a 2.5 with a sound generator .

No seriously though a good exhaust is good way to go if done good. Ive had 3 z4 now the first had backbox chopped off for stainless pipes (loud,pops,bangs) all that stuff is great on track but on the high street at 20mph its a no for me did my head in. 2nd one i had decat with stainless rear box sounded the same as first one really. My 3rd one has standard exhaust i do miss the bwaaaaar on acceleration but i love not having a constant headache now at low speed or sat at 70mph with that drone.
