Soon-to-be Z4 owner with some newbie questions

Well, after lurking here for most of the year, I finally went and put a deposit on this:

Bit of a useless picture from Autotrader - will take some better ones once I get it - hopefully on Thursday or Friday evening. :D

It's an 56 plate 2.5i SE auto roadster, and done 28k. I've got a couple of newbie questions about what I need to do next...

The car has been serviced only once (by BMW), in Jan '09, at 19k, with a break fluid change and an oil change, but nothing since. The service indicator says that an inspection is due in 4,100 miles. I presume this is inspection 1? The car comes only with a three month warranty. My questions are:

* Should I do the Inspection 1 service now, or wait for 4000 miles (probably 6 months).
* If I was to get a BMW extended warranty, is this car still OK, or has it not been serviced correctly? I presume I'll have to stick with the BMW servicing for their warranty, right?
* I presume it needs break fluid now?
* Is there anything else I should be doing?

Cheers,

Chris.

Hi and welcome :)

re brake fluid change and oil change they are every 2 years or based on your service interval indicator, which if these have been done in Jan 09,they are over due now!

I don't exactly know what is included in inspection 1,but sure someone else will give you the correct info ;)

Hi and welcome

Car must be 4 years old now, so minimum oil service with brake fluid, so you might as well get the Inspec 1 done, should only be £150 from main dealer for 4 pot.

If you get BMW extended warranty you will need to continue BMW main dealer servicing.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. For me when buying pre owned I always do a full service from Day 1 that way I know everything is OK and can drive with peace of mind. If your getting it from a BMW dealer get this done as part of the deal! Good luck with the purchase

if you are buying from a dealer why are they not servicing it for you befor you take over????? :|

Sorry, should have been clearer - am buying from a Nissan dealer! They have agreed to do a "safety service" - which basically seems to mean that they'll MOT it

I'm definitely going to get it serviced once I get it, but not sure whether I'll still be eligible for the BMW warranty if I get it done with BMW immediately, as it's nominally slightly late (and frankly, I guess the original service was slightly late too).
