Sometimes the bad days are the best. . .

Out with Chezsherman today after a phone call arranging another NE run. Despite the weather forecast we went ahead and found that getting out when the weather is poor can lead to much less traffic and a more enjoyable day!

The weather was hit and miss but good enough to have our hoods down right through till 2pm when the heaven's opened whilst we had lunch at Hartside café. 140 miles covered.

Having been out on a great route previously with cherrym, we headed out the same way to Corbridge on back roads, Edmundbyers, Castleside, Stanhope, Brough, Penrith and back over Hartside (Chezsherman took the lead for this - reinforced my belief in the effectiveness of the 2 litre - good stuff Craig) to Alston to Hexham to home. Some terrific roads and we had a relatively clear run through with little traffic - excellent.

We met up at 10am and arrived home after 3pm having stopped for coffee at Stanhope (superb café opposite the square) and lunch at Hartside. Have to say - worth making the effort - some of those roads really are brilliant and with the light traffic, I'm so glad we got out there to make the most of them.

We weren't the only ones out enjoying the roads - take a look at the group opposite us. . .

Not too many folk out. . . .

If you love driving these are wonderful roads, especially if you can get a clear run at them - we're so lucky to live up here!

All bar the last hour Swiftly - bit windy though over the tops but still beautiful and the colour of the trees now - fabulous! New tyres working well so far - felt a lot more confident in the wet

I agreed that sometimes the bad weather means that a good day can sneak up on you. :)

Regarding the group on the fifth picture however. My opinion is that just one of those had a good day. The rest were pretty miserable. .

Hi Paul and Craig...pleased you had a good day even though the weather was a bit lousy.
Sounded like a really good run out...better than shopping with the missus! (Joke)

Now, now, :D both the Renaults were in the final of the best driving cars of the last 20 years in this months Evo 200th. . . . .

And you'd have a lot of fun chasing my mate in his 350 SLK Merc - but that's him not the car! (You'd also have a ball chasing him on his Ducati . . . .)

From their conversation in the café they were having a ball! :D

Ha! My answer is to have her with me in the Zed! Luckily she loves it (and was a great pillion as well - she has a full motorcycle licence too!) :D

Ahhh those traffic free Northumberland Roads.

Seriously folks (And Paul will be agree with this), If you want a good weeks driving holiday with quiet roads then Northumberland is the place to go.

We have taken a weeks holiday up there for the last 10 years.

You have every vista you can think of in a 30 mile radius, coastal views, moorland, forests, & the hills of Simsonside & the Cheviots.

Even in the busy summer months the roads in the region are much quieter than the traffic choked roads of the South & East.

Get up there & enjoy :driving:

Steph says 'and they all had attractive young women with them too' Ooeer!

AND. . . . .best not judge by the car - ask Bing about the High Lux which led part of the way to Skye :o and Swiftly about the Fiesta that led me to Portree :o ! The driver not the car in each case. 8) to the pair of them

:driving:
