Someone tried to hotwire my z4

So I woke up this morning to an open door, glovebox, ashtray and a couple cut wires underneath my steering wheel. All a day after the catalytic converter was sawn off my 1 series :(

Does anyone know what these wires are responsible for and how I go about fixing them?

Not sure what that is but it looks like it's aftermarket. Probably need to look into moving into a better neighborhood. :poke:

Really sorry OP, that sucks!

I think they might have cut the PDC speaker / instrument panel speaker while looking for an alarm speaker or maybe an always hot wire (which none of those are)! I am pretty sure the PDC speaker is situated below the steering column.

I agree it does look like some kind of speaker, no idea what the other wires are connected to.

I live in Stanmore, London which I thought was a nice neighborhood... Until now

Sad times mate- I used to commute from Stanmore daily and it was always a decent place

To me it looks like the pdc speaker

Hope it gets fixed/sorted chief

North London? Says it all OP
Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope its sorted quickly/cheaply for you. Alas, there are some proper arseholes around who care nothing for your pride and joy.

Really sorry to hear that OP.

At least they didn't get you car though - hopefully it won't be too much hassle to get it fixed.

What utter mollusc does this? At least they weren’t competent enough to actually steal your car or anything off it. One good thing about the Zeds being so low, it’s actually quite difficult to saw off the cat. Hope you get it sorted soon.

So sorry to hear that . Two type of people I detest the most, thieves and liars !

I am assuming from your avatar that you have an E85 (soft top). And I also assume that you (wisely) leave the doors unlocked, if you didn't you would also be telling us of a roof sliced open.

My brother told me years ago that you never lock a convertible...you only need a knife for a key!

Do you have comprehensive insurance? If so, depending on your deductible, it should cover most of the repair. At least that is the way it works over here.

Thanks for all the love everyone, really needed it after a difficult week!

It is indeed a soft top, although it was in fact locked. Not entirely sure how they got in without slicing the roof to be honest...

I do have comprehensive insurance, although I fear it's not worth losing my no claims over, as I'm still young and renewals are already expensive enough

If you leave it unlocked you can forget about claiming on your insurance if it gets stolen!

I had a convertible-roof sliced open and car searched through, years ago. Police recommended I keep the doors locked but leave the glovebox and ashtray etc open to show there was no money or valuables in the car. A lot of people that do this type of thing are chancers.

Sorry to hear about your issues. And Sorry can't help on the questions you ask. However, some of us on here can take solace that 90% of these punks can't drive a manual so at least they won't take the car.

:o Christ! You've had some bad luck lately. So, along with your bumper getting bashed does that make it three things? Hopefully there won't be more and all is back in one piece soon.
