Andy, thanks for your reply, this may seem like a silly question but how do you get round tips over an oval pipe ? Normally tail pipe tips fit very close to the original exhaust tip shape so to you have to reshape the ends slightly on your original tail pipes , mine or almost square/oval from memory !andy.c said:

Yep - I changed mine from a 5 speed to a 6 speed when I got the coupe. Bought a replacement badge off ebay, which had double sided tape to re-attach it.
I left the ZHP, badge down on a radiator to soften the existing badge adhesive and then used a small screwdriver (the sort of thing you used to get in Christmas crackers!) to work underneath and loosen the badge. Just be careful not to lever too hard, or you may mark the edge of the leather as it sits slightly proud of the badge in the centre. Even better would be something with a short right angled blade so you could work that underneath then pull straight up.

You cant get round pipes over the oval you have to cut the oval off, there is two round pipes coming off the back box that go into a
single oval so you cut the oval off then you need to weld two pieces of round pipe onto the two pieces of pipe coming off the back box
then you can slip the new round tails on and jobs a goodun
it looks so much better than that pants oval. Im sure if you Pm MM he will be able to give you some better advice than me and help you out if and when he has finished working on
his motor and he has some free time again

I fitted my Dan air scoop today it was a 5 min job nice and easy, drilled the holes out on the scoop so the screws went through it
easier the only hole I piloted out on the plastic was the top hole as it is a bit of an angle the other 2 screws go into the plastic
nice and easy, the hardest bit was getting my big monkey hands in there to screw it in place

I got some secondhand roll hoops off flea bay a couple of weeks ago I have painted them Titan silver to match the car,
First off I gave them a good rub down with some coarse wet and dry so that the plastic primer would get a good key
on the hoops, they then got
2 x coats of plastic primer,
3 x coats of grey primer and was flattened off between each coat with some 2500 fine wet and dry,
Then they was given a lot of fine dusty coats of the Titan silver until I got a good even coverage,
then finally 3 x coats of 2k lacquer 2 light dusty coats then a thick coat on top.
finally they was left to dry and harden for a 3 days, and it took me 4 afternoons to do the painting and lacquering.
I got the 2 spray cans of Titan paint made up at a auto paint merchants, the paint code for my Z is 354/7 as there is 4 different
shades of Titan and I also got them to make a can of 2k gloss lacquer with added hardener in it.
the hardest part of it all was changing the hoops over, taking the hoops off was a bit of a nightmare more by luck than
knowing what I was doing I took the rear hoop off first which then makes taking the front hoop off easier as you can push the
little clips that hold them on down and out with a flat screwdriver. If anyone is going to paint their hoops or cover them in
vinyl then start at the top of the hoop first when taking them off as this will make it easier as well.

Next job to do now is something with the interior trim,
And I have to say thanks to Lynchy for giving me a few tips on the painting and Lacquering cheers mate

looking good!
mine currently has custom red leather roll hoops to match the seats and although they do look really good.... I cant put the wind deflector brackets on as the leather covers the gap
I also got a set off an ebay breaker last year and when getting my Aero skirts and rear bumper sprayed got my spare roll hoops done in alpine white to match body colour, they look amazing and cant wait to fit them and actually use the wind deflector lol!!
wish I had the skills to spray myself but they would look a right mess

Cant you just screw through the leather so you can fit your wind deflector?

erm not really, would damage the leather and not sure how well it would fit.... plus I think the white would stand out more.
will try get a photo at break time to show better detail of what I mean, actually bored of the red leather hoops now as been looking forward to my shiny new white hoops and deflector for ages lol

Plus the wind deflector will make a big difference to your driving experience with the roof down, much more pleasant environment.
