Some more stuff about the Z4 successor

Looks wise i think it's still too early to tell but it does look curvier than the current model

I am going to paint some orange color stripes on my mirrors so I will look up-to-date and cool.

The front end looks mean! I like that.
Headlights are thinner...very cool
Paint job -> :dizzy:

For me it's all about how those headlights turn out. It's all it took for them to ruin the 1 and 3 series. The wide kidney grilles are promising, but if those lights end up making the car look suprised at the designer's stupidity in designing the lights :? , then it's game over. Curious to see what detailing the sides get - these photos do seem to imply that they might be a bit bland...

My biggest concern right now is the weight... :(
Also...my dealer told me today that the word from BMW USA is that is will be a sold as the Z6... :o
I had not heard that before... :?

Here's digging up an old thread from zpost.com. Direct feedback from a member whom attended a research study about the new Z4, and saw the prototype. The thread is about 9 months old, and it was tough to visualize the descriptions back then. Now that we have some better pictures, it seems the descriptions are starting to make sense.

Some snippets of the most pertinent parts:
"On another note. They let us open the truck, well they opened it for us and we saw a video of the roof in action. It looks like the exact system from the new 3 series convert. Also, I noticed when folded the glass of the hardtop is on top of the other folded roof panels. Which means when you open the trunk you see the glass on top. Personally, I thought it was a bad design and vulnerable to breaking if you drop something while removing anything from the trunk. I told the guys there so let's hope they can change that around a bit."

"The headlight assembly was simply awsome looking with LED's inside and halo's to boot (large). Front airdam was extremely modeled (??? lots of stuff going on) with 3 huge air inlets with aggressive meshing. From the from the car looks like it's going to fly off or come and devour you alive. It definitely has a look of movement and passion from the instant you see it. The overall flow of the body, from the f bumper to the trunk (including the retract roof) is extremely aggressive and almost space ship like. The lines flow very well. M port holes are gone and in place of them is a slit (?). It looks very well integrated and well done. The flow of the retract. roof and the trunk to the integrated little wing is "powerful"! Very good lines. "

Im confident it will look good but as WLH, said with the metal roof weight might be an issue. Anyway i wont be looking to buy that generation so i dont really care. If they do name this as Z6 then the rumours about a smaller cheaper Z2 might be true. Now that i would be interested in.

Although this is just an illustration, I think it looks pretty close to the description above.
I like the mean look of these lights, and the vent on the side, reminiscent of earlier BMW roadsters.
This front end treatment does look more aggressive. Overall, I like it.

Looking at the pictures it looks like a baby 6 series.
Not a bad linage but one of the reasons I bought my first Z4 was it had a trunk. I know most on here have been glad to have a trunk it was one of the things that set the Z4 head and shoulders above the Z3. Seems like a step backwards to put a hard top with no room for luggage.

If we all wanted a hard top wouldn't the coupes be selling off the lots like hot cakes??

We do companies see fit to reinvent the wheel when my wheels turn just fine?? :headbang: :headbang:
