It's along the driver's door and wing panels. It catches my nail and is through to the primer. :headbang: :headbang:

Other than a respray what are my options? How good would the results of some compound and polishing be? Or maybe use some touchup paint and Langka blob remover...?

sorry to hear that peddy

check with your insurance company - some (direct line I know) will pay without your loosing any no claims or not claims protection.

Who ever did this to your pride and joy is obviously an oxygen theiving little c*nt! I feel for ya mate. Maybe worth getting hold of a reputable detailer (try detailing world forum) who may be able to advise/help. fingers crossed it doesn't sting your wallet too much.

DrNick has a point though. If an insurance claim is not affecting your no-claim due to vandalism, you can just get it done at a body shop rather then doing a bodge job.

B******s,, wonder what does go on in these peoples heads, wouldnt you just love to catch them in the act,

Bas****s If you have no claims protection you are OK if not it sounds as though it will need to go to the paint shop.
If its gon all the way to the primer thats it. Hope you can sort it out at no cost to you. Good look.

further to previous post, you need a crime reference number for the insurance company, so report it to the police.

As to helping with options for repair, am afraid I am no help! Other than most experts should look at it for free and give you advice I would have thought

Your not having much luck lately Peddy  Get to a detailer or something and see what they say, they may be able to get it to barely visible or something.

Gutted mate, you had some bad luck recently?

I had a deep key mark for the full length on my Ford. A well recommended local 'smart' repairer to fixed it, he did an impossibly good job, no trace. He also fixed a small wheel arch dent at £160 all in.

There are lots of smart repairers about and they vary in ability, I got his details from a couple of local prestige dealers who use him to prep' their cars and this may be a way to find a decent repairer, even if they are not the cheapest.

really sorry to hear this.. where did it happen? might have be caught on CCTV - which wont do anything for you but atleast the ba$tards will not get away with it.

It you can feel it with your nails then i doubt a detailler will be able to rectify it.

A smart repair will be able to minimise its visual effect.. however to be back to 100% will need a respray.

Cash payment at a bodyshop your looking at around £200 per panel + and other panels which need blending into.... so i'd see what your insurance can cover.... as quite a few do offer vandalism protection with no effect on your ncd... however come renewal time you'd still need to declare it - which is where it will effect your renewal premiums.

Peddy, again, gutted for you.

Again I'd probably go the insurance route and get it sprayed properly. That said if you can get a good recommendation on a smart repair it may be worth a try. But that may take away the insurance avenue at a later date. So choose carefully. With this sort of thing experience is everything, if you are going smart repair I'd take a day off and get down to Ewazix's, guy in Somerset. Unless anyone local has had a similar experience. Effectiveness of a smart repair will depend on the paint, so at least have a chat with that guy and see what he thinks.

Hope you get it sorted without too much fuss

Mate you have had your share of bad luck recently.

Smart repair techs are a bit hit and miss in my experience. Only go with one that has been recommended by a reliable source as there are a lot of bodgers out there. That said, a good smart repair is as good as a respray to the eye.
