Solved...E89 Boot Lid Adjustment?

Is it possible to adjust the automatic closure of the boot lid? Mine appears to have unequal gap from left to right of around 2-3mm between the lower edge of the boot and the top of the bumper. All other gaps between the top of the boot lid and wings, wings and bumper seems good.

Looking at where the bumper line carries on from the boot all the way round the tail lights I'd say the bumper looks fine.

Thought this would’ve been difficult and would necessitate messing with the soft close. The brackets that the soft close latch onto are slotted so just adjusted one a couple of mm and fannies your aunt.

Was it loose? Just wondered what could have put it out :?

Wasn’t loose, it was a smidge to high and I guess if it was loose it would’ve been too low.

Hi Cerbera
Could you please describe this tweak further I don't understand what you have adjusted.
My boot lid closes too tight against the bumper and could do with raising both sides a smigeon

If you remove the shroud from over the latch at each side you'll see two torx screws that hold the latch on slotted holes. Loosen the screws and adjust where necessary. Before loosening I'd add a witness mark so that you can easily see how far you've adjusted the latch.
Hope that helps.

For years my bumper gave an uneven gap under boot edge.
Solved by removing tail lamp to get at nuts, that was straightforward job.

So I've had a play and cant completely solve my issue. Described better by Maniac in a 2012 (!) post.

Yes thats the gap I'm talking about, mine was so close that when the boot lid swings back and up it scraped very slightly on the bumper making a creaking noise. 2mm is very close, like mine used to be so I'd suggest having someone open the roof/close the roof while you crouch and double check. Mines now some 4/5mm and when the lid moves it clears the bumper by 2/3mm... very close tolerances.

My lid def touches the bumper as it has scratched the paint work. I think raising the two latches as cerbera advised has now got it clearing that, but the horrid creaking noise remains. Any other ideas? Maniac is still on here, do you recall if raising the latch was the adjustment that resolved your issue or something else?

My boot makes creaking noise. I lube the gas strut occasionally but the lid also rubs the rubber below rear screen. No matter what lube i use it comes back.
