I had problems with a set of European spec lights because the beam pattern was designed for driving on the other side of the road. I didn't have any levers on the lamps to change the beam so I had to buy another set. I'm not saying yours are the same but being US spec it might be worth checking.

I'd agree with the comment by Curtis. In building a set of lights for a board member he obtained one that was US spec. It lacked the assymetric beam cut off lever, so was not correct for UK use. I had to change the projector rear for a UK spec. then it was fine.

They will fail a UK MOT test if the examiner notices that the beam patterns are pointing into oncoming traffic. They are not legal for use on UK roads without changing the beam pattern.

It will very much depend upon the exact beam configuration whether they are UK legal. Some US lights are not asymetric as in having the left hand edge of the beam projected into the hedge with the right edge cut off. They would likely be OK, but provide very poor road illumination with just a flat beam pattern and no edge illumination. Full beam would look normal.

If they are US assymetric they a totally illegal and highly dangerous as the dipped (cut off) beam will be directed into oncoming traffic.

That said if a prospective buyer had a set of UK xenon it would be possible to retrofit the UK projectors into them to benefit from the clear indicators. It's not diffficult/nor easy, but possible for a competent person.
