solar powered battery conditioners

Hi Guys

I'm getting my Z on Wednesday and wondered if anyone has experience of these solar powered battery conditioners. My car will be left outside with just a half cover to protect the roof but wont get a lot of use during the winter, so I thought one of these conditioners might be a good buy?

No...... security isn't great at the front of the house that's why I fancied one of the solar powered jobbies.
 
I would only use one if it's a smart charger that works out if and what charge needs to be applied to the battery, not one that simply pumps in current whenever it's bright outside.
