softop cover - anyone actually use one?

Have searched through the forum and found comments but wonder if the top only cover (original BMW type) would stop the ingress of water into the softop motor? (My car is kept outdoors all year) For that reason I am thinking of buying one - anyone actually used one - does it cover the panel over the hood motor? Wouldn't consider a hard top as I still drive top down through the winter.

I've just bought one of these as I think they appear to be a great compromise between protecting the fabric of the roof but not causing the bodywork and paint to sweat...

Smudgers - does the half - cover cover the seam which would allow water down to the roof motor? If so which one did you buy?

I had one for my old Z3 as it was parked out on the street. Bought mainly as a deterant for vandals actually. Know it sounds weird as you'd think it would attract them but after having the soft rear screen slashed for the 38p that was in the front ashtray I decided to go this route after getting a new hood.

The bonus was it protected the roof very well and would hook under the front of the roof so when closed creating a tight seal. Side windows the same and for the back it extended into the top of the boot lid. Seemed to cover all motor areas but unsure if they all would.
