Soft top would not engage

Strange thing this morning, tried to put the roof down and the button just did nothing at all, no lights went on (almost like it was completely dead). Checked all the other buttons on the panel i.e. heated seats, DSC etc and they all worked fine but roof up or down did nothing. Eventually when I got to work I turned the car off and then back on again and roof started working fine again.....

Anyone else ever experienced this?

I think it's haunted!

When I left work I started the car and for some reason the DSC Symbol on the dashboard would not turn off i.e. it was on as if the traction control had been disabled. It would not go off no matter how many times I pressed the DTC/DSC button. Also the handbrake light would not go off, it was illuminated in Orange (as opposed to Red when the handbrake is engaged).

I then turned the car off and on again, no change. I turned it off, left it off for a minute or so, turned it back on and everything was fine again!

WTF!?

Sounds similar to my experience the other day. I was taking the car in for an inspection and oil change. Five minutes into my trip I stopped at a red light and began to pull away. The yellow brake light came on, and the car bucked repeatedly, I could not accelerate at all. After I bucked through the intersection, I pulled over. Then I noticed the traction control and the EML light came on, the car idle was very uneven. I turned the car off, and turned it back on and it was fine the rest of the way.

Since I was on my way to the dealership anyway for the yearly inspection / oil change, I told them my experience, and agreed to pay for a diagnostic check (58.00). They pulled the codes and their diagnosis was low battery voltage. The battery is original and it had been a few weeks since I drove the car, and I didn't have it on the battery tender during that time of inactivity. The tech said this is actually pretty common for these cars to have strange electrical occurrences and bad battery is the culprit most of the time. I actually came back on the forum today to see what people found for a suitable battery replacement. Hope this helps.

Spooky or what! mine did the same this morning I pulled in having left the motorway, engine on, handbrake on, pressed the open button... nothing, no lights, no noise, no action, dead. The motor is good having been replaced in the past, everything seemed in place, battery is good. Having got to work I tried again without turning the engine off, still nothing. Re-started the car and whoosh it flies up and down as normal, I've cycled it about 20 times today no problem. I checked the battery and charging voltages which are strong. Weird!

I'm wondering if it was a module, or a sensor glitch, apparently the system shuts down if it detects movement over 4kmh, or temperature below or above set limits but neither would have applied. It seems really odd? Would any of the micro switches cause this zero lights, zero roof action? I thought a light would still come on :scratchhead:

:D Call the FBI and have them send Scully! (They can keep Mulder  )

There's so many computers on this car, it stands to reason they sometimes need a reboot when something goes awry. Except there's no 3 finger salute (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) so one needs to disconnect the battery for a while.
