Soft top stuck - hear motor usual sound but not closing

I am not able to raise the top up to close the roof. The top is in good condition never had a problem before. When the button is pushed to raise the top back to the closed position I can hear the usual sound. The motor runs and then it sounds like it's complete but nothing moved.

What could be the problem? has something become detached? Is this something I could fix myself? Windows not moving....

Ps a teenager sat on the roof for a parade...

Can you move the roof manually? There is a bowden cable in the boot (red handle) that operates a bypass valve - turn the handle and you should be able to pull the roof up by hand. The same valve getting stuck is usually also the reason the roof does not work hydraulically. It's a motor out and strip down and refurb job (might as well relocate it to the boot while your at it). Lots of members on here can do it for around £80 or so.
