Soft Top Renovation

Hi Guys

Anyone used any cleaner renovator on their soft top to clean/restore a faded canvas? Is it possible to dye it back to black and then rewaterproof, or is it a bad idea to meddle with it. Mine has lighter patches on it and I would like to get it sorted at some point without having to purchase a new top.

do it every year

tried a combo of renovo and autoglym,

found autoglyms cleaner and proofer better, and the reviver from renovo works well but really runny so can get messy quick

It works a treat, did it with mine. Used the autoglym stuff with liquid shoe polish mixed in.

Wouldn't mind doing mine.

Wash and clean roof as per autoglym instructions.

Then decent half the roof protector into a spray bottle and mix with the liquid shoe polish. Used half of this approx to from memory. Apply as per autoglym instructions.

Shoe polish was a £1, I will let you guess where I got it from :lol:

I've used remove reviver in the past. It worked well.

Before (it was a grey roof that had gone green due to UV damage).

Dyed black.

It looks alright as long as you apply it correctly.

In the end I got new hood fabric fitted as I wanted a red roof.

No real definitive answer as it would depend on whether the car is predominantly garaged or used only in dry as opposed to a daily driver out in all conditions
Its a easy & quick process to repeat every few months to keep the look fresh & always worth doing prior to any potential sale as a shabby looking rag roof is a real let down when in reality they are quite robust & the ones ive had always come back to life relatively easy

As a Coupe driver I find it quite amusing watching Roadster drivers agonizing about how much shoe polish they need to use on the roofs they claim never to use
