Soft Top Problem

Earlier tonight I started the car and the light between the soft top buttons is blinking red. It blinks red with the knobs in the trunk up and down. Nothing happens when I press the open button. Just the red flashing light... ?
 
The light IIRC just tells you the top is not fully opened or closed.

All I can suggest is check fuses to see if OK, after which you'll be into diagnostics to see if it is something physical like the top catches not releasing, trunk microswitch broken, or the hood motor not working.
 
Have you had anything big in the boot? The microswitch in the middle could be dislodged. It would be the first thing I would check.
 
I decided to take it to the dealership yesterday and they still don't know what the problem is- but they were leaning towards a switch somewhere. However they did give me a 2007 3.0si Z4 to drive around while they still have mine. :thumbsup:
 
The dealership replaced the wiring harness since the wires were getting crimped when putting the top up/down. No charges since it was still under warranty.
