Soft top issue

I’ve read a few posts and it i’m pretty sure the motor’s not gone, you can hear it trying to pull the top down but it feels almost like it can’t hook onto it? you can hear it pulling but it won’t move, when you press the up button it pushes the top upward. Windows go down the top lock comes undone then you can hear the motor trying to pull it down. The annoying thing its been working fine and this is an actual replacement motor.

The tray thing in the back is in the down position, pretty sure no fuses have gone. The little red pull tag is inserted, I tried to pull it it comes out but won’t budge beyond the initial pull out.

This has probably been asked a million times before.

My best guess is a problem with the hydraulic actuators, mainly due to the going up but not down symptom. Emphasis on 'guess'.

Try putting some grease (clear) into the brackets on top of the windshield and on the rollers, I had an issue where the roof motor was making noise but the roof wasn't opening without a manual push, i put some grease on bingo! all sorted :)
