Soft suspension

What would make the suspension softer, less sporty.
There are days i think, i'm going to be rid of this car.

My daily drive is country lanes and my old bones can't stand all the bumping and giggling around in my car, std. 23i.

I went from the std shocks to Bilstein 6 then to 4.

So do springs make a difference, still on std. springs at 100k miles.

Can you get say softer spring to smooth out the bumps?
Not into going around bends at 100mph.

What sie wheels are you running and have you got non runflat tyres. In my experience the Bridgestone runflats are the worst possible tyres. Again from my experience Michelin pilot sports or Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric will give a far better.ride
My car always on 18" wheels but going down on size will help but I dont have any experience of this.
More radical is to change the dampers -had a R56 Cooper S changed the dampers for Koni FSD's with michelin tyres completely transformed the car. Koni's now called special active.
If want to try smaller wheel or tyre combination sure 2.3I owners will soon be along to give there experiences- just remember ride quality is a very subjective see if you can get wheel/trye combination on the car on roads you know before making a big spend.

18" Goodyear Asy 5 F1's. I did consider the Koni shocks.
I did prefer the earlier F1's, the later seem harder wearing.

Budget depending quality coil overs do the job. I put KWV3’s on the 35i and it transformed the ride and handling, it can be marshmallow soft or stiff but still compliant as they have bump and rebound adjustments. Would be cheaper than changing the car.

More cushions, grandpa.

:P
Cheapest solution :D
Kwv's over a grand.

Could give up job and then just avoid the bumpy roads.
Closer to the truth if this bad weather continues

h.
If its an M-sport could you not just fit Se springs.
Find somone with 2.3i Se first to see what difference in ride is.

Running standard m sport shocks with eibach pro kit springs (progressive spring rates) and Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric tyres here. Rides way better than stock with the run flat Bridgestons. No idea how they released a car with such a terrible ride from factory. I'm also running wheel spacers and I'm convinced they helped the ride even more.

Given he finds B4s too harsh,it’s non MSport and it’s on 18” non run flats it’s time to move on..
