Car was not well and making rather loud tapping noises, was checked twice by dealer then eventually stripped down. Diagnosis so far is premature bearings wear and an oil circulation issue.
Car had done 9000 miles.
So as of last week I have a reconditioned engine in the car and I am being told by the dealer no need to run in and BMW GB these re-con engines need running in. Just awaiting clarification by email.

Welcome! I'm curious about your engine. Could you start a new thread?

As for the engine not alot to be said really, it's not been a nice experience to be honest, especially when you feel that you should be getting a from the factory "new" engine but this is NOT BMW's policy apparently.
The car does feel good though, I am adopting the running in procedure on this one even though I am waiting for clarification, I am sure it should require running in as its all new parts.

Nothing can be worse than the TVR experience of getting a "new" engine - and after having to go through that twice in my Tuscan, the BMW experience HAS to be better!!
Still a bit of a pain though, i'm sure. At least you haven't been missing out on any nice weather without the car... *looks outside at grey clouds*.
