So lights camera action was alternator issue

So tyre light, stop light, hand brake and dsc lights up
Loss of power and then lights rebooting
And sat nav joined in
Turns out it wasn't my battery but alternator!

So it's out and have a new one I'm. Fitting today
Had mine tested and it's regulator not the alternator
So I'll have a new reg fitted on old one and sell it on here
As bmw charge £730!!! Then have your old unit back

So faults found and let's see if all good once get home and fit

I hope you don't end up replacing the regulatory 3 times before finding out it is the commutator - like I did with my e34 M5 alternator.

Alternator would be fine for 500 miles (and obviously perfect on a bench test), but the brushes on the regulatory would be damaged by an ovalised commutator.

Had to abort 3 Ring trips (once in the queue for the ferry at Dover), and finally bought a replacement as the Bosch service centre couldn't reliably fix it. Only found out what is was a few months later when my mechanic decided to strip it completely to see what was wrong.

I'm. Putting brand new one in

Ref oil that's my cleaning haha
It'll get cleaned off, as wiped down air intakes and all round where alternator was
So it's fall out of greasy crap from that buddy
Too anal to have it dirty or a leak

And she's in looking shiny and so oooooo easy to do
So taken for spin all lights off and runs well
Job done

Why thank you. Warranty paid I fitted as easier and less hassle plus I didn't like the lights etc all coming on as it was spiking system
