Any tips?

Suppose it needs to be withing 150-200 mile radius, and doable in a day, but with things to do also. I'm in Sheffield.

Works really peed me off this week, just want to get out in the car and enjoy myself. Mrs working, can't be bothered to go to the match.

So, any thoughts? Is it worth the trip to the Lakes for one day?

Its going to be very cold!! Its nice to see another Sheffield owner, ill have to keep my eyes peeled - anywhere near Banner Cross/Ecclesall?

Why not a quick blast to the Peak District? Lovely roads, lots of tourists to blast past, have a walk around Bakewell/Chatsworth House and up the A6 onto Buxton or down the A515 to Ashbourne is a great driving road. If you like bike riding, you could always go on the Tissington Trail railway and see some countryside whilst burning some pent up energy! http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/cycle

No point on trekking upto the Lakes for a day when you've got so much on your doorstep in my opinion

Ecclesfield mate, although occasionally work at the bottom of Eccy Road (EDS, opposite Greens)

I've actually never been up to the Lakes and really do fancy a nice drive up. Although may consider the Peaks. I do love that part of our fine land. Went to Castleton a few weeks ago with the mrs. Main reason I fancy the lakes is she's not bothered about going up there at all, and fancy a bit of me time if you get me.

I'm even considering going to Morecambe v Exeter on the way back!!! Had enough of Wednesday and the crappy politics and fancy some proper football.

Senwar, pity you can't do Sunday.

Should I put this up as a potential for z4-forum? Would anyone be interested? :?
I would have been interested in that but I'm away that weekend.

Bugger.

Senwar, I'd probably head up to the North Yorkshire moors and zig-zag back and forth across them. It's a great drive and there's lots of places to stop off and look at things.

Forgot to say, I managed to make the trip up on Saturday.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Never been up before, spent a bit of time in Bowness on Windermere and had a bit of me time.

Didn't really get any decent pics of the car in scenery to be honest, although I do like this one just because of the lake in the background.

Called off at Morecambe v Exeter on the way back. Enjoyed that too. Didn't missed going to my usual Saturday afternoon mecca one bit

In a vain attempt to get the wife interested in my future Z4 purchase I promised I take her away for the weekend to the highlands somewhere when we get the car, I must remember to take the camera (for the car!) :camera:

I really should go for a drive to the lakes at some point. I wouldn't want to ruin it with a trip to Morecambe though....

Love your car, maybe I'll have to buy it off you in a few years time

Shame I didn't notice this thread before you went, I'm a big fan of the Lakes, I'd have made some recommendations.

I like the Keswick area, it gets really rugged up there and the views really are something else. The route I take is M62/M606 to Bradford, A650 to Skipton, A65 though the Dales (excellent sweeping A road) to Kirby Lonsdale (excellent sausage sandwitches at Devil's Bridge), then A590/A591 past Kendal and though Windermere, Ambleside and the heart of the Lakes to Keswick. From there you can just hop the A66 to Penrith and back down the M6.

I took a detour back to go to the game. Was literally a fleeting visit. Enjoyed the game though.

Re: the car - sounds good timing for me! :driving:

I'm definitely going to go up again in the new year, although might go up for a weekend as opposed to in a day.

My dad does the route you mention when he goes.
