1.what is it? ... im guessing its that white stuff they cover your car with at the handwash...

2. is it a replacement bucket and sponge? ... do you still have to wash the car after of just take a mitt/sponge to the car covered in the stuff

3. how do you use it? does it need a pressure washer and if you dont have one can you use a hosepipe?

You can't just use a hose or a self pressured handheld DIY spray, u gotta use a pressure washer.

If ur near Kent/south Ldn, will let u have one of my 3 5l bottles for £10 if u want it, cash on collection

Don't forget you'll need an attachment for your pressure washer

Spray it on, it binds to the dirt, wash it off. Then two bucket method wash etc as usual. It just helps in the initial stage of cleaning

You can buy small pump bottles so you can do it by hand - but I wouldn't bother, they're rubbish. If you really want one, get a proper one.

It's also quite fun to use and provides entertainment for your neighbours. :)

Use it regularly, removes surface grit etc so reduces scratching when you wash the car.... wife hates it though as it suds up her driveway :D

Whats the best dilution ratio for the snow foam,i used it for the first time last weekend but it seemed a bit thin and just sort of ran of the car (the gf's 500 was the guinea pig)

I'm using a Karcher snow foam lance(non adjustable) and the ratio i used was roughly 50:50 any advice guys

I'd be interested to know how much mess this makes as I have a gravel driveway. Will I be trying to wash away the suds for ever and ever?

The Karcher attachment isn't great I'm afraid. I got rid of mine and got one from cleanyourcar as per the earlier link in this thread. You want about an inch in the bottom of the Karcher, topped up with warm water. Getting the aforementioned attachment will make a hell of a difference, it goes on like insulation foam!

I use Snow foam and do doubt the benefits of using it.

I cant say that i think it cleans the car any better, but it make a good mess on the drive way.

kit and 5L Snow foam about £55, cant say i would recommend it to anybody.

Mine has a 20 min dwell time, but a little sunshine causes it to dry on the windows and paint work.

As i said, not sure that the extra effort is worth it as it does not dispense with any of the washing processes. Still need pressure washer, wash mitt, shampoo etc, etc.

That just my opinion.

Looks good, but thats it.

I wondered about its benefits, but why would detailers use it? Their time is money so why waste 30 minutes or so per car with fannying about setting up washer, dwell time and rinse plus the expense of the foam and lance if it makes no difference?

Thanks for the tips Stuart will try your method with the Karcher and see what i get if no better i will go for the one on clean your car.

Remember it's also dependent on water hardness - out here in limescale central you need far more snow foam mix to water to get a good covering. I usually do a 50/50 mix and get a nice thick foam.

But doesnt it clean the drive at the same time? :D

I'm looking at getting one to go with my new nilfisk as the supplied ones not up to much. Looking at the group buy one on Detailing world @ £40 which seems a good buy

As does the pressure washer. I had to replace mine as I couldn't get decent foam with my old karcher.

With my nil fish e130 with an inch of foam in the bottle I get foam an inch thick if I want.

You shouldn't be using a 50/50 mix!!! That's WAY too strong and will more than likely be either taking off ALL your protective work or doing naff all. You only need the slightest amount, maybe only 25-30mm in the bottom of the bottle, fill the rest up with water and cover that way. There are too many ridiculous pictures of people making their black cars white because of it - that's WAY too much and too thick.

The quality of foam is massively dependant on the type you use. I use AMDetail Foam and it gives excellent results.

I agree. Way too much. I use around 2 inches of the stuff, and it's plenty with good coverage.

Washed the car today and used Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam
with Karcher foam lance,i put an inch of snow foam in the bottle and topped up with water and these are the results.
This is the same lance i was using
