Hoping someone may be able to help me before I can get to a specialist garage.

My car (a 2003 3.0i SMG) has been suffering from hesitant gear change (especially downshifts) for a few weeks. Due to a house move, I've not really had chance to look at it and so dropped it in to my local trusted indy. They haven't been able to fix the problem, but have reported fault codes 51b6h and 20918. Does anyone know what these are? Also wondering if any of the Carly/diagnositc users here know if they are codes that can simply be reset and possibly save more time and expense? I only have a simple OBDII reader that isn't enough for such an issue.

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of reset procedures you can go through, google it and give it a go. Does yours have the updated software i.e. does the engine rev match (throttle blip) on down shifts?

according to the TIS manuals you can teach the transmission via DIS software, so you need to find someone who has it. New beta website for TIS https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e85-z4-3.0i-roa/repair-manuals/23-manual-gearbox/1r0jcCO

I'm not very tech savvy and the whole area of software is a bit beyond me - Carly/DIS etc, but I will do a search and look at ways to reset it - so far only tried the '50mph, pull both paddles method' and I'm not convinced it actually did anything.

Thanks for the replies, looking like a trip to the specialist is on the horizon
