SMG Gearbox Problems

Hello fellow Zedders,

I am new to this forum, so please excuse if i am posting in the wrong "section"

A few weeks ago while driving, the dreaded gear-cog made its ugly appearance. I could still drive, luckily it was less than 2 kilometers from my house. When I got home, I saw a trail of oil, I jacked the car up, and then realized the actuator (clutch slave ) seal had failed. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: And because the clowns that manufacture this un-reliable product make it un-servicable.....being you cannot purchase a slave cylinder repair kit, like you can on the manual, this you have to purchase the entire actuator.....at a whopping US$1800!!!!!!! I then went online and found that the seal can be bought from a hydraulic company for less than US$5. I did this, changed the seal, was not a big job, topped the reservoir up with that liquid gold (Pentosin CHF11s). Turn on the ignition for the system to prime. It did build up pressure, however i needed to take it to a motor mechanic that can do all calibrations and adaptions, run a SMG relearn / clutch teach-in and teach the transmission where each of the gears are as well as rest the clutch engagement points.

Remember I did ALL the mechanical work, even filled up the reservoir(which is pathetically positioned) with the hyd fluid, so all they need to do is charge me a maximum of 2 hours labour!!!....Its been there 2 days

NOW HERE where it gets really strange,....First call I get from the mechanic is that it does not want to take the program, or it runs halfway through the program and stops. ... and he has to investigate... Next call the clutch is slipping, next call oh the pump is not building up pressure (Which is BS) because then the pump would run indefinitely waiting for the pressure relay to turn it off, which it doesn't ....... Next thing, and here where he messed up, he told me he found the problem, I put the shaft and gater back into the actuator the wrong way!!!!!  I video-ed and took pictures of everything i did, (even compared it to online literature and pics) ..

So my question is...is it difficult to run this program to set all the adaptions and limits?? Or is this guy looking for a bigger chargeable bill. He is not ignorant, but I think he is too busy, he has 2 shops and is never at the one where my vehicle is and has other clowns working on my car.

It's fairly straightforward Using INPA from what I remember when I replaced my pump motor. See here: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=85975

Good news!! Got my car back, with a invoice double the initial, but anyway. On the invoice, replaced seal in actuator...I hope that its not the same seal on the BMW 330i manual, which fits, but is made out of polyurethane, not nitrile, which poly will disintegrate within 3 months because of the hydraulic fluid, CHF11s. Lets hope for the best, or else sell and buy a proper vehicle...like a Merc!
