Smelly clutch

I've owned my 3.0 03 plate z4 for 3weeks now, she's done 98000 miles, love it but the last few days I've smelt a burning smell when I've used the clutch a lot, through town, parking etc. I've never had a clutch problem in any of my previous cars, I've looked on here & saw the comments on brake binding etc but the smell only concours when I use the clutch regular.
Not sure what I'm asking really? Just want anyone's opinion

It is possible that your clutch disc is worn and might need replacement unfortunately as the smell is one of the indications that it is worn.

They say the E85 clutch is good for 100,000 miles. That's pretty close!

The E85 clutch should last longer than 100k. E46 clutches started to go at 100k, but they're much heavier. Sounds like previous owner might have enjoyed riding the clutch or doing burnouts

The previous long term owner was a forum member who had the car for 40000 miles, I hoped for a well looked after example, I hope I've just been a little unlucky here & not bought a lemon!
Time will tell but I'm in it for the long haul so any work I get done will be piece of mind for the future.

My clutch made it to approx 118k if I remember correctly.. So you're not miles off given driving differences.

Well, have you tried showering more often or changing your undercrackers every day? Maybe you need to visit the doctor........oh wait........cLutch. Ah, sorry.

Clutch longevity varies greatly with driving conditions. When I lived in an urban area, clutches lasted 70-80k miles. I now live in a more rural area and now wear out cars before the clutch wears out.

Carol M - You're awful! :D
