Smell petrol in the cabin after filling up

Hi all,
I have a small whine when the tank is low, which I believe to be the fuel pump on the way out. Anyway, I noticed when getting in the car after filling up is smells of petrol. Do you think the seals on the pump are weak, which is why the pump is moaning and getting the smell through? After I drive down the road I don't smell a thing or getting in it later. The whine comes on intermittently at half a tank, but goes away on a full tank.
Cheers

I too have the whine occasionally - it's not a guaranteed symptom of failure, certainly some have had it replaced only to find it returns some months later.

Petrol pumps dont usually give any signs of failure, they just pack up but then the Zed could be different.
