Hi all, just ordered my used Z4 3.0SI, 07 plate 23k miles, and was talked into having a coating called SMARTG applied to protect the car, anyone had this, hope it's going to protect the black paintwork.

There have been posts on this subject before, i think the general conscensus was that it was a bit of a waste of cash,....... bordering on a con. I'm sure it will look great for you to collect though, get some pics up when you get it :thumbsup:
 
Waste of money. Just keep a few coats of sealant & wax on the car and that'll be fine. These coatings don't stop chips which is the number one issue so I wouldn't waste your money!

Sounds like you have already paid the cash but for future reference save the money and get a pro detail done instead or do it yourself look forward to the pics :thumbsup:
 
As mentioned ,its been raised on here before,and tends to be viewed as a waste of time/money.

ditto on the "get some good polish/wax/sealants" applied,or pro detail :thumbsup:
 
unfortunately sounds like you posted after the event, as others say its a waste of money
 
I agree with the others, the problem usually is that the dealer may not do the prep work properly before the sealer is put on which is vital if you are going to get the best finish and you can do the same thing with a good sealer which you can buy from detailing web sites.
 
Ok thanks for the info but as has already been stated done deal and car delivered last night, will know better next time but i was sandbagged at the dealers, follow the link for photo's http://www.flickr.com/photos/henrye1/5478372121/ as delivered after 90 mile delivery.
