Has anyone been fined for being caught in an X marked lane on a smart motorway, penalty can be but not limited too £100 fine and three points.?
Driving home last night from Bristol to East Yorkshire around 20:00 on the M1, I got flashed by a speed camera on a gantry for being in a closed lane, was definitely not speeding. Typical overnight roadworks, they start to set up the cones after eight o'clock, gantries tell you to move over for lane closures but there's nothing there as they haven't started yet! Could see the speed camera flashing, which just happened to be on the first gantry that had the X over the lanes, as it caught people in the closed lane and there was insufficient space for me to move safely over into an open lane before I got caught too.
Fair cop, I had miles to get into the third lane, just wondered if anyone had been prosecuted?
