Small spots of green mould on soft top

Soon I'll be putting my hard top on for the winter, but I have a few very small dots of green mould on the soft top and some green patches low down on the sides just bellow the body panels (you can only see this when the roof is partially retracted).
Can I remove this mould without doing an all over clean and protect?
Is there a product ( or household liquid/solution) that will clean off these small areas of mould before I retract the soft top for the winter?
 
I used to use this on my TVR and it worked a treat...

Easily removed with a dishwasher brush and some washing powder (e.g Daz, Ariel, Persil etc.) that is Bio (don't use the bio-free stuff), then rinse with plenty of water. You will need to leave the roof slightly open to clean the gaps fully.

If you use some sterilising fluid, be careful and rinse fully as it can bleach/rot fabric (same as bleach). I steer away from that stuff.
 
Oh, and dry the hood fully before putting the hardtop on. Personally, I also remove the hardtop and clean the roof once a month during winter - I suffer degrees of paranoia :roll:
 
Thanks Mark - I'll do that. Won't be removing the hardtop once a month to clean it though - think you've already admitted you have a problem there :lol:

Hi, I use milton sterilisation tablets which cost pennies & removed the algae from my roof after a couple of treatments-no bleaching/stains incurred either :thumbsup:

So you dissolve them in warm water? - how many just one tablet in a small bowl?
 
I use a couple in half a bucket of cold water, I think the instructions say one tablet but I prefer the supercharged solution... :P

Bugger, I'd meant to do this before garaging mine for the winter.

Thanks for the reminder. Only been SORNed since the start of the month and missing the ability to take it out with these dry days we've had
 
I too use Milton sterilising tablets, i put a whole one in a 1.5 ltr plastic jug, pour it over the algae /mould, brushing it in with a tooth brush as you go..
The green almost disappears as you go, and i just leave it to dry, no mould, no staining, and my hood is black..
Very quick and cheap , hope this helps..
 
Sounds like the start of Woodworm to me Marlon. Have you had any old wood in the car recently? :wink:

I was only talking to MrsG about this tonight. Never SORNed mine thus far. But I was thinking I might this year. She talked me out of it mentioning the times we have been out, mid winter, in passed years and had a cracking day with the Zed. So I'll have to pay the bu##rers in the tax office I guess. :D

Thus far not had any mould on the soft top. Before reading the tips here I would probably have suggested AutoGlym Bird Poo wipes. They get every thing else off the hood and leave it looking just fine. :thumbsup:

lol, know the challenges! Wife has an E89 so always have the all weather option for a roof down option, fortunately :driving:
