Small compact flash card(s)

As a little wonder-if-I-can-make-it-work project, I'm trying to convert an old HD-based MP3 player to take a compact flash card - which, in principal, shouldn't be too difficult as compact flash uses the IDE command set.

The player normally uses a 20GB 1.8" IDE drive and I've obtained an IDE to compact flash adapter but the player is refusing to recognise the CF card even though it's correctly formatted and I've edited the partition info to match that of the current HDD.

I'm starting to think that the issue may be the size of the CF card - the smallest I have available is 64GB which may be confusing the player and stopping it booting. I don't really want to start buying smaller CF cards as there's a possibility that it'll never work or that, once the player does boot, it'll completely trash the card.

I know that people tend to buy larger memory cards for cameras etc. and old ones get thrown in a drawer, so I was wondering if anyone had any old CF cards knocking around that they no longer have a use for and would be willing to donate for me to (possibly) completely F-up...? Anything over 128MB (that's MB not GB) should be fine.

Happy to cover postage etc.
