Slow puncture

Looks like I have a slow puncture. I keep all tyres at 32psi and one of the rears slowly drops to 25.

Bit of a pain since the tyres have about a year left in them otherwise.

The question is, (which might be a dumb question) before I fork out on two new rears, ...can slow punctures be fixed ?

Oh...and...in case its a cracked rim, is there any way I or the garage can check for that before going to the expense of replacing the tyres ?

Hope somebody can help

Cheers.

any garage can check for a crack by spraying soapy water onto the rim and if air is leaking it will bubble up.

If there's no physical damage to the tyre it's normally either a leaking valve or some corrosion / deterioration of the rim. The first you can check with some soapy water, the second is normally easier to check with a removed wheel and the same or submerse the wheel in water and look for bubbles.

:D

I had a slow of daily driver for past few weeks -pressure sensor kept coming on and falling to 1.5 - took it in today and nail removed -jobs and goodun .

OK thanks for the replies.

Just hope I can trust the garage to tell me if there's a rim or valve issues and no just fit me a new tyre !

OP, I hope you manage to get your problem sorted.

Weirdly the warning light came on a couple of times in my Ruby Black one within a couple of weeks. Each time I checked pressures and re-inflated the one that was down (it wasn't down much). After the second or third time it never happened again - maybe just a sticky valve (or even an idiot neighbour)!

FWIW In the event it does turn out to be a puncture many places will tell you RFTs cannot be repaired (probably because they would rather sell you a new tyre) but they can, depending on where in the tyre the puncture is. I had a Pirelli RFT repaired on my 123d and used it for over a year afterwards with no issue at all.

10 quid fix rather than 180 quid new tyre = result

I'm on non RFT

Nail in middle of tyre so could fix.

Bit alarming since I just drove the lenght of the country with my 'slow puncture'

Thanks for the comments.
