Slow/Juddery roof? Help!

I'm not sure if this should be in the Newbie thread, or this thread... But here goes.

I'm a newbie! Looking to buy a Z4, been looking for a couple of months and waiting for the perfect one - I've found it! I can just about afford it too!

However, after test driving it today (and falling madly in love), the only problem is that the roof seems very slow and a little 'juddery' in comparison to a few of the others I've test driven. Is this a sign that the roof motor is on its way out? Or can it be normal for it to do this?

The current owner claims it doesn't get much use and when I mentioned the difference compared to others that were much faster they said 'maybe it's just slow because it hasn't had as much use as them'... Which seemed a little off for me.

Please help as (like mentioned) I can just about afford to buy the car without selling my current one first, and don't want to buy it and then have to fork out £800 (ish) for a new roof motor. Thanks!

Walk away. There's no way of checking the motor without taking the roof off the car... Unless he wants to knock £700 off the price for you, it's not worth the risk.

Thanks guys, pretty much what I thought... Just hoped otherwise ;)

Such a shame as the rest of the car is in mint condition - best I've seen since I've been looking.
