Just come back from skiing in Italy, had a great time! Beautiful place too. It was freezing some days though; -20degs! Argh. Back to work and it's very hard!
 
Where in italy did you go?

I tend to go to the same place in val desair each yr.... And i think i am getting too old to snow board with the teens and lower twenties now :(

:) Aquazi - Went to Courmayeur in the Alps in Italy. It was my first time to Italy. I’ve been to Val D’Isere before *(only one day as was in Tignes), and it was good! More tree lined runs I think in Val compared to Tignes. I hear Val is expensive. There isn’t any nightlife in Courmayeur. It’s a cute village – has a nice villagey feel, and not just a ski-season feel. Some Lovely shops – cheese and wine places, deli’s (yum), designer places, even Rolex store. I was told by locals that the area is busy in the summer too with people hiking / walking. Three good and bad points:

Good points:
Good food – local Fontina cheese on pizza was yummy. Got snails (neighbouring France)
Good wine
Quite close to Geneva airport: 2 and half hours approx by road with half hour comfort stop
BEAUTIFUL
Okay that was 4 points

Downsides:
To reach the chair lift, you have to take a cable car – give yourself about an hour from finishing breakfast at the hotel to being on a run (inc. get outdoor gear in, and get equipment on e.g. ski boots at the top of the cable car)
Small number of runs
Lack of sun due to aspect of the runs – was ‘following the sun’ as moving from late morning to afternoon

Adamski - Yup I have photos! Will try and get some on here in the next few days – out tonight for a colleague’s leaving do. Strangely, the runs were pretty quiet – not sure if it’s the economy of what. Btw - your avatar is scary! Mr Lemon.

:poke: Gosh I wanna get back on the ski slopes!
 
I went skiing in Folgarida, in the Dolomites in Italy (years ago). Beats any Scottish skiing trip. Blissful 10km++ runs and fresh off piste powder snow... Awesome :thumbsup:

Courmayeur sound ideal, will add it to my list :thumbsup: . What's the black run there like?

I went to aviemore in my youth.... Sorry to say but imo the Scottish ski resorts pale in comparison to the European competition :(

Got holiday blues still! Missing the action :x . Aquazi - the black run in Courmayeur: did not try it. The black runs there are un-bashed. The red on the West of the piste map, No 18, is good though. Steep in parts, but had pretty good snow surface even though it hadn't snowed there until the Friday.

Pila, on the other hand - did a black there (my first in years), very short bit between a red run, but I was good :) :thumbsup:

I was in Courmayeur in 2009 - for a day trip.
I was with my granddaughter and we were staying in a chalet in Chamonix.
The chalet owner took us for a day trip through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Courmayeur.
For a day trip it was great, but I was knackered trying to do everything in one day - I think I saw the best of it though.

This is me knackered - can't keep up with the young guys these days.
