Sitting high on sport sprigs….

Removed the front splitter as it was catching.
Removed the H&R springs as the car was scraping on all the speed bumps in my estate…

Refitted the original sport springs - front were new.
Refitted the front splitter - from a Seat Leon.

After a couple of weeks it’s still looking quite high considering they’re the sport springs. Hoping it will settle eventually.

Thinking Eibach springs will be a better option as they aren’t as much of a drop as the H&Rs.

Looking lovely and clean in my works car park though…

That looks very wrong! Do you have the part number for the front springs that are on it at the moment?

They are the sport springs. Checked with BMW and RealOEM. The car had been jacked up just before I took this picture so probably a little higher than normal. But still looks high

That’s it now after an hours drive… still looks high. But they are 100% the sport springs

I agree, they do seem to be the Msport front springs which should make the car sit a heck of a lot lower that it is!
Make sure the bottom of the strut is sitting correctly in the knuckle.

Did you also replace top mounts? Are they the right ones if you did?
Were all the screws tightened when the car was on the ground or in the air?
Are the struts sitting correctly? Mind the height and rotation.

Oh wow…. That’s very different compared to mine! The rear springs were done by myself, the front sport springs were reinstalled by a local BMW specialist.

Pop a front wheel off and post some pictures.

So after some digging it turns out the black Dare wheels have the following spec:

Front 18x8.5 et42
Rear 18x9.5 et42

This was to accommodate the HR lowering springs

So with the original MV2’s being as follows:

Front 18x8 et47
Rear 18x8.5 et50

I’m wondering if the different offset gives the impression the car is sitting higher. Now the car is back on original springs, perhaps spacers could sort this…..

5mm further out on the front isn't going to change much really.
Still don't look like the right springs though do they?

Yeah it’s so bizarre…. They are 100% the correct ‘sport’ springs and have been fitted correct. So frustrating

Any photos of your top mounts?
The E46 ones are deeper and the camber pin is in a different place, but I found one zed with those fitted and the camber pins removed.

Are the front struts properly seated into the hubs?

Recently bought a 3.0Si and it’s not right either, front looks right, rear is on stilts and that’s with a broken spring to boot. Ordered a set of Eibach pro springs to remedy but it’s strange how it currently is. Mind you it was PVR’s car so anything’s possible….

I also have the same situation. Front springs done by an indy, they even shared the springs invoice because I doubted their work thinking they ordered OE instead of M sport, which was the original spec.

Been 2.5 years since that job was done and it still looks like this. Can fit around 4 fingers between the tyre and arch.



Thought it would settle after clocking 30,000 km's
