Simplest way to repair a scratch at home?

Got a small "graze" on the side of my car, not deep enough to get a finger nail in but I'd like to try and get rid of it

Bit out of touch with all this detailing malarkey so what's the quickest and most effective way to deal with it?

Don't mind spending an hour or two on it but not expecting to get to a bodyshop standard

if you cant feel it with you nail then this would polish out, idealy you would need a polisher and some polishiong compund however

I had a scratch/scuff on the rear bumper.

Got a Meguairs DA polisher, a range of pads and cutting grades

worthwhile getting a DA as it comes in handy afterwards for general detailing.

Buy some Maguiars Ultimate compound and some scratch x 2.0 works wonders and is non abrasive. I scraped my Z4M and after alot of rubbing it came straight out its awesome stuff! Buy some applicator pads or a DA with the scratch x 2.0 and work clockwise until it disappears then polish out and wax. There are some tutorials on the Maguiars site. Its amazing stuff.

Megs Scratch X is amazing stuff but it most certainly IS abrasive - how else does it remove the scratch?! :wink:

In the vids the guy says its not interesting... maybe its not as abrasive as say T-cut therefore less polishing is needed

I was just about to reply before you edited! Megs do a Swirl X which is non abrasive but the Scratch X needs using with care. I'd hate for someone inexperienced to read what you put and then go through the top coat! Amazing stuff though. My girlfriend was in tears when she found a large scratch on her brand new VXR a couple of weeks ago but now you'd never know it was there.
