Simple electric question

Should be simple enough for any semi-trained electrician to answer I think. I however am not an electrician!

I want to install two of these lights inside the garage:

http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/lighting/outdoor-lighting/wall_lights/Napoli-Oval-60W-Matt-White-Bulkhead-11597651

But as its a rental and I can't go playing with existing wiring to add them to the existing lighting circuit, I would like to have them attached to a regular plug socket so I can plug in, run and fix the cable, mount the lights and turn on/off by just the plug socket. I was about to buy the parts when I noticed the light fitting only has two electrical connectors, live and neutral. So, how would I wire two of these lights to a single cable run to a plug that has Live, Earth and Neutral??

What grade wiring / fuse would it require?

Thanks

Why? They wouln't throw out much light. Get some fluorescents?

I've already got a long fluorescent down the centre of the ceiling, so these are more supplemental at the darker ends. With 11W ES they throw out 450 lumens of light each, so should add enough light and cheap to run.

I presume they are plastic and so don't need earthing.

This cable should be ok

So, from plug to first light and then out of that light to 2nd light. 3Amp fuse in plug.

Perfect, thanks. Learn something new every day

I always assumed everything plugged in would have all 3.

Get yourself some 2 core mains cable, wire them up in parallel or series(either will work) leave the Earth unconnected in the plug, stick a 5A (should draw much less than half an amp anyway [90mA]) fuse in a plug and give it a go. Its dirty but it should work. Disclaimer: don't come chasing me if you get blown up
I'm no electrician just an EE Engineer playing at cables...

Just wire them to the fluorescent then?

I really don't think they will help much.

Having a single fluorescent in the centre of the ceiling isn't the best thing, it'll cast a lot of shadows. Three decent size doubles is the minimum tbh

 the charge is slowly wearing off...
and our plugs work well over here, not so good anywhere else, eh.

We'll give him some advice then if you are a grand master ffs

It's not rocket science and as long as he can turn off the electricity reliably or change a fuse/flick a breaker anything that goes wrong is a learning experience

If he can't turn off the supply properly then normal Darwinian rules apply

How childishly rude!!

Easy now... I've had people ask me if the toilet works after I turn off the power. :? :?

If he's just wiring up a plug on a cord what's the harm? Might blow a fuse if it's wrong so no biggie.
