Simota Carbon Intake

Being a tight-ar?e, I am trying to get a decent induction kit.....cheap. I've come across the link below but it doesn't have the Z4 as an option. Now, I'm thinking that the carbon fibre/filter cone etc can't be model specific, surely it's the pipework that differs? Does anyone know if these could be retro-fitted or am I talking non-sense?? They are on sale at $79.99, down from $199.99!

What engine are you fitting this to? If its the 3.0 or above then it will restrict your airflow. IIRC the intake side of an 3.0 is 84mm where the lesser engines are around 63mm, so it would be pointless fitting this as according to the link they only cater for smaller intakes. This will only sap power.

Mine is a 2.5i 2003. There is a 2.5 3-series listed, so was hoping I could retro-fit this?

I think yours is likely in that case to be a 63/64mm intake diameter. If you message the company selling or see if they have a spec sheet for the largest one then if it is 63/64mm or above it can be made to fit. Anything smaller in diameter would be pointless.

Another thing to consider is with shipping and any import tax, it may/may not be cheaper to find a local supplier or buy one off ebay used.

Thanks for the advice, I've emailed the seller, so will see what he comes back with. I'm a complete novice when it comes to this kind of thing but just can't believe there can be much difference apart from the hose connection size?
