Silver Wing Mirrors Paint Colour Code

Apparently it's Oxide Silver but I can't find a code, I am curious now so I'll keep looking .

Thanks Lynchy.
I damaged the nearside (left) mirror cap, so I need to get it repainted. Melbourne Red looks good with silver mirror caps, so it makes sense to get both painted silver.
That has given me more to search on.

Thank you Lynchy,
Done lots more research, and it does appear to be Oxide Silver, and BMW Auto Parts suggests it is indeed, colour code B25.
So, next job is to find someone to paint them. (Perhaps my local BMW Bodyshop).

I bought a new cover, but they only come in primer now. It arrived on Monday. So I either pay to get one cover painted Melbourne Red to match the other and hope the colour matches well, or for the same price, have both covers painted Oxide Silver with no worries about colour matching.
You cannot buy the Z4 Mirror Caps in body colour any longer. Probably because the car is out of production.

So you can't buy new 35is covers that are matt silver?

No, they are discontinued. You have to get them painted.
I tried to order them.

I am not sure they are matt silver though. I have only seen them in photos and from a distance at the dealership.
Planning to visit my local dealership and take a look tomorrow.

Sorry, got confused. Thought that was YOUR red 35is posted in the thread but just saw it wasn't :) and that your covers are red BUT want silver now?

The 35is is covers are silver/matt silver kinda and looks really good on red.
Otherwise, just paint them any kinda good looking silver. Titansilber?

No, my car is a 23i with red caps, hence why I want to get them painted to look like
the car in the image.
Otherwise my car is identical (apart from a few horsepower, but whose counting :) ).

I found a great supplier who paints the covers for £29.99.
However, I could not remove the glass from the other mirror without breaking it.
So, I have had to have my new mirror cap painted Melbourne Red.

For those following this thread, WingMirrorMan.co.uk does a painting service.
They will paint your mirror caps in any colour your specify for £29.99 per mirror cap,
which includes the return postage.

They were happy to paint my mirror caps in the matt oxide silver finish if I could have
removed them from the car.

Don't know if the covers are different but on the 35is it's really easy to pop the covers of.
I tried with some plastic prier tools and took only 1 min.

Did NOT remove the glass, just the covers.

Hi Steve, did you ever get this done? What’s your verdict on the spray? Assuming youre still here and with tour 35is.

Silver spray hammerite is an almost exact match for the BMW alloys silver colour, for info. Take you half an hour to spray them up in your garage

Thanks McButler, have you done this? Do you have pics? Slightly nervous lol

Hi,
Not done it on wing mirror caps but I have used it to repair a couple of blisters on my wheels. The match is near perfect, to get the best look on a mirror you would need to lawyer it as well.
I sprayed the mirror caps on my 23i black using a Halfords gloss black car spray. The finish was excellent, see if they do a gloss silver spray, even if you somehow manage to screw it up a pro can always spray it again for you.
Have a go, it’s surprisingly rewarding and simple.
