Legitimate question but if it goes out i dont think you have anything to worry about.
Investing in an obd scanner is always a good move to see if there are any faults which dont show up as lights on the dash....
Lots of threads here re scanners etc
Edit: and welcome to the forum! Dont be afraid to ask for advice for anything z related
On putting the key to IGN (Pos 2) many lights will come on and after a couple of seconds only the following should remain:
Battery warning
Handbrake warning (assuming it's on, obvs should be)
Oil warning
EML warning
"Check engine" warning (the engine symbol)
On start the EML and check engine should extinguish almost immediately (<1 sec) followed by the others.
I always pause at IGN and wait for everything except the above to extinguish before starting, along with depressing the clutch and making sure unnecessary electrics are off.
Hi,
If the light stays on:
This happened to me. My ind BMW guy advised me not to use supermarket petrol. I've done that and used premium petrol e.g. Shell VPower, and had no problems since. In fact, it goes better than ever.
