Should I Sell?

So i have decided i am going to sell in the very near future. Out of curiosity i contacted a dealer who were looking to buy on eBay. They have offered me a firm £16,300 cash in my bank the same day and a lift to the train station.

Car details below...
Z4 M Coupe
Ruby Black
Champagne Leather
Piano Black Dash
52k miles
Almost FSH apart from last insp 2 which was completed by the (reputable) dealer i got it from, and is due an oil service soon.
Fresh MOT
Goodyear Eagle F1's all round
Sat Nav
Pro 10 speaker system
Bluetooth
Heated seats

I know i could probably get more (circa £17,5k at a guess???) looking on ebay etc and based on the mileage, but how quickly are these really shifting, and are they selling for what they are advertised at?

Personally for ease in the situation i am very inclined to take the offer, just wanted to put it out there to the masses first.

Never accept their first offer - that is their "opening shot".

If you choose to sell to the dealer, I'd contact them and say that you would like to do business with them but want £17000. They will say that's too much and you'll agree to meet somewhere in between. They may be going for £17500 on EBay but that's the asking price not necessarily what they sell for. You also need to let the dealer think he can make some profit when he sells it on.

The advantage of selling to the dealer is that it should be a quick and efficient sale without the tyre kickers, dreamers and the "will you take £10k cash m8 innit" from potential Ebayers.

As TR4man has said, negotiate to up their offer and if you really want it gone then get it sold to the dealer. Hassle free, quick sale and the deal is done...

As above try and push them but for anything around £1k in difference its just not worth the hassle. See the silver MC for sale and the idiot bidding the seller in the balls. For being able to avoid that alone its worth just selling to the trade!

The original offer was £16k so he has already come up £300. I honestly don't think they would go much further, too much risk on their part for not enough return. It must cost them a couple of hundred quid to process the in/outbound transactions, plus they have to offer warranty. Wonder what margins they work to?

I have to admit it does seem like a reasonable and fair offer for a hassle free transaction.

They will look for around £1-1500 depending if they get a partex to play around with. I would be selling it to them and moving on.

Thanks for the advice gents, i think i have more or less made up my mind. Was just checking in case i was being a rash or it didn't make sense.

Time of year more than a fair offer , Tankman's is a very similar motor not shifting at £15500/£16k
If you want the use for another few months then try for £500/£1k more but myself i would take the offer

bite their hand off seeing a car doesnt get any easier imo....

just out of interest, why selling so quickly???

Sell it.....

What could they honestly ask for the car ? £17,995 ??

To lay out £16k + to get £1500 return is a crap deal.....

I'd try some other potential buyers, especially the M specialists and Z4 interested dealers - you might get a nicer offer.

From memory, a few members have sold to Knights for decent money, likewise nick johnson is an M specialist - popped a business card through my window once.

Car was only ever a stop gap before a little one came along. Little one's isn't in the oven just yet but the time seems right and i need to stick a few quid into the house/garden to make it baby proof :) .

Already on a promise from the wife that i can get another, or something similar once life settles down.

I paid £15.5k for it so would be making just under a grand after a fun years driving and 11k extra on the clock.

That said since sticking this up, a couple of members have contacted me who seem seriously interested. If they come up with the same offer then i would rather it go to an enthusiast.

Gotta admire baby preparations BEFORE the baby is even baking. If you're that well prepped, you must be considering the baby wagon options then?

Quoted for when that doesn't happen

Not once they have read that! Sammy has dropped his bid to £13k now

Haha we desperately needed a new kitchen really, plus the garden needed a makeover so this is what she is getting, plus a few other bits and pieces to make it more small person friendly and easier on ourselves once life gets flipped upside down. :)

In regards to the baby wagon, i am looking at an estate of some form. Probably just a cheap snotter E46 330D or Audi A4 Quattro. Still got an E36 M3 Evo and E36 328 track car for my kicks, so really the Z4 MC is surplus to my needs and a lot of money to be tied up in a car i don't really need to use.

Haha - im a firm believer of forgiveness is easier than permission, and i have a very forgiving wife. She didn't know about the track car until i appeared home in it one day, lol.

I make no secret of what i paid for mine. The receipt will be in with the paperwork anyway. I have a firm offer from a dealer so anyone interested can either take it or leave it, makes no difference to me  The values are what they are, although the forum selling rules do state i cannot sell for profit :?
