Should I change to non RFT tyres now?

Hi all;

I have searched a bit on the forums but still have the dilemma about swapping my RFT to normal tyres (I have style 294 18 inch split rims with bridgstones..not really had too much issues with the ride or handling, but like the security of runflats)

However with 3 near limit on tyres with my MOT today (ouch!) replacing them will be quite costly...

So if I changed to non runflats for all 4 tyres, what tyres do you guys recommend?

Do I need to get a tyre weld kit?

Do BMW void my extended warranty or car insurance if I do this?

many thanks

Wil

This topic has been done to death. Most who have made the change (including me) have been very pleased, the tyres are cheaper and ride & handle better. I carry a can of tyre weld and a compressor just in case.

In terms of tyre choice I went for Dunlops as they are quiet and good wet weather rating. There will be loads of opinions on tyres but as a rule stick with a known brand and avoid the chinese cheapies.

Camskill and Oponeo tyres are usually best prices and then you'll need to find an independent tyre fitter to put them on, usually £10 a cornor.
