Should I be glad that a cars gone into me??

Haha yep black new light and old silver! I noticed straight away!! I'm hoping to get a matching black on te other side as they look loads better! Since when did they get black inners? On what models?

I think from memory you got black on anything lower than a 3.0 whether it had halogens or Xenon. The 3.0 comes with silver if you have halogens or Xenon..

If im wrong someone will be along to correct me im sure :D

The Black look better in my opinion!

Anyhow even if they did switch back to silver the other light is slightly misty and chipped etc and te brand new one perfect, they havnt done anything to the bonnet either so basically it looks obvious the car has been in an accident!

I asked them why can't I get both lights and the Bonnet resprayed to match and they said the 3rd party insurance said they didnt think it needed doing on the reports! What shall I demand, can I demand anything at this point?

The whole point of insurance is to return you and your "goods" to the condition they were in beforehand. Clearly that's not been done in your case so go and give 'em hell (in a polite way). Obviously a trained eye will always notice even the best accident repair, but the casual observer shouldn't be able to tell even from a close inspection.

Not sure what the unfixed damage to your bonnet is, but I'd at least start by insisting they fit headlights that at least match.

Cant believe they returned the car with unmatching headlights... talk about stupid.

I personally would point out if they were too retarded to notice the headlights were a different colour how would they be able to spot slight difference in the paint to the freshly painted bumper and wings and the original bonnet.

Yes I spoke to them they are only replacing 1 headlight, so 1 being good and the other being old a d crap! Making t look obvious, the bonnet had scratches there to start with anyway, but with the bumper being brand new it just looks obvious??

Shall I ask for resprayed bonnet? And whatshall I do about passenger headlight even though they won't replace that? The car looks obvious it's had an accident, even thogh it was a bump looks like a head on!!

Do you trust them to spray a bonnet? If they fit a black headlight and a silver one, and return it?

Black lights on a 3.0i makes it obvious it's been repaired badly. All 3.0i had silver inners.

If the bonnet is done, the wings will look a different colour too (tops of wings where they meet bonnet)

Headlight can easily be fixed up by polishing up (machine polish to restore a super flat as-new surface)

I just spoke to them and said I'm gonna get legal advice from my insurance company, anyhow they have come back and stated they are going to try and buff/polish out any existing bonnet scratches etc to match the bumper

I have also asked if they can try and polish the old light to match the new one!

My only concern is a devaluation on my car when i sell!! :( arghh

Problem is that insurance cannot provide betterment, so they can't make your car better than it was.

The headlight polishing is something you can do for about £15 with the right bits and bobs in half an hour... then you have the kit to do other such parts of your car too :)

The bonnet being made nicer to match the bumper would also be betterment I think.

Again, you could pay £200 for a full body polish by a professional and make your whole car look better, not just the front end.

Dave

It's a tough one when you start spraying. Spraying any old panel will make it better to the point it looks better than areas around it, thus making the overall car potentially look worse. So you have to better the whole car a bit (blend/polish etc) to make it look reasonably ok.

Tis a tough area. If the other insurer is playing silly buggers though, then it's clear you will have to fight a bit to get what you want.

It's annoying really. ALL the costs associated with spraying a car at all, and the courtesy car, admin, yadda yadda. The total difference in claim cost to have the bonnet/wings blended really nicely and a full-body polish is probably about 5%...

Makes you wonder doesn't it.

when i had someone damage the front wing on one of my previous cars i had the wing replaced then the surrounding pannels blended in and relacquered.

Still got noticed when i came to px it by the toyota dealer.

I'm not sure that's a good idea on the Z, the clear plastic is multi-layered with a UV coating on the outside. It will look great to begin with but could go yellow if you polish through the outer coating.

Ah, I didn't know that.

Scrap that idea then... :D

holy :o

can't believe they didnt notice the different colour inner headlights :( they really must be blind!

good luck with getting it back as you need it to be.

Right just had a call and they have polished but not applied anything else, so the car has a brand new light new bumper old right hand light and chips on bonnet, this has devalued my car! Shall I deny taking this back and demand some bonnet touching up?

As has been said above, they won't repair/replace anything that wasn't damaged by the accident. I don't think there is anything you can do apart from paying somebody to sort it out for you, afterall the chips were already there before the accident.

I would try and polish the light, a few have done it on here and there is lots of info on detailing world.

Granted it's a PITA and I would feel the same but they aren't going to do it.
