So I've had the 14" stock whip, the 3" mangowalk stubby, and on Friday in came a 7" stock Honda S2000 antenna.
After trying the three, I highly recommend the Honda S2000 (OEM) antenna. It picks up stations BETTER than the huge OEM whip antenna. You can keep the radio on---choose a fuzzy radio station with the OEM antenna, unscrew the OEM, and put in the S2000---and the station will pick up loud and clear, then go back to stock and it's fuzzy again. Tried it with a number of different 'fuzzy reception OEM' stations. With the S2000 antenna I'm picking up stations around a 3 hour drive away, a lot of American stations which I'd never get with the stock whip. The mangowalk worked for local stations, but in bad weather and when driving in tunnels, it gets fuzzy.
The S2000 is around 7" and fits perfectly on the stock base. Not as small as the mangowalk, but in terms of reception---it's an upgrade from stock. As for appearance, well that's a personal decision.
Anyway, hope this helps those of you looking for a shorter antenna but don't want to sacrifice reception.
