Shinier than my Zed

I think that the guys in Solihull get a better coat of paint on their vehicles than their counterparts in Spartanburg. Our Discovery, despite having 106k on the clock, still cleans up well. Following was clay mitt (much better than clay bar) and then Turtle Wax Black Box. I'm now knackered - it's like polishing the Zed four times over!

Don't leave it so long next time Rick... :telloff:

Looks great, admit it, you did it just for Daizy right..? :P

You saw my reasoning. Daizy didn't want to be wafted down to Cornwall tomorrow (with the whole luggage area to herself) in a less than shiny car! :)

O/T - how do you find the repair bills for that car? I had one (older model), and had to give up within 2 years as even within the warranty period, an £1800 standard service bill was normal (all oil seals had to replaced on each service).

I have been really pleased witht the running costs. Servicing is not cheap but only needed every 15,000 miles. Usually end up with a bill for c£600-700. Got the timing (?) belt changed recently and that was c£1,000, but that only needs doing every 100k miles.

Other than the above only issues have been stuck handbrake three times, all fixed under warranty and the dealer came to us and one wheel bearing changed.

I think that the previous model was a bit of a horror for running costs.

The only thing that disappointed me was that we had uneven wear on the rear brake pads. The pad went down to the metal meaning that the discs needed changing too. Apparently there's only a wear sensor on one side, which was not of course the side that wore quickest.

Hope that I have not just been lucky with this one as we'll be getting another towards the year end - not brand new, maybe a couple of years' old.
