Shift Indicator light Issue

Hey all, New user here...

I have an 05 e85 and I just replaced an aftermarket head unit with another aftermarket head unit and have an issue now with the automatic shift indicator light (the orange light next to the "P" on the side of the shifter)

The light now stays on after I shut the car off. I even went to check it an hour after and it's still on. I read somewhere that this means the car isn't going to sleep mode. I checked all the wiring to the head unit and it's all worked correctly. Any ideas what can be causing this??

Am pretty sure mine stays on all the time. Are you sure this has started happening since you changed the head unit?

Just checked our one.
Light comes on when you unlock the car, and goes out about 15 minutes after you lock it again.

Ah, I will check later. But I leave mine unlocked in the garage, so maybe that’s why.

Correction: just checked and it’s off.

Yes it should power down after 15 mins or so. If it doesn’t then this will drain your battery over night.
Have you tried swapping the yellow and red wires around?

Haven't tried that. I also have unplugged the rear speakers before I noticed the issue so I don't know if the "non-connection" triggers this issue
